Reading through any Eve related forum or guide, you will quickly learn that Eve Online is a complex game. However, there are many myths about the game that are spread by veteran players of the game. Below are 5 of the biggest.
You need to lose ships to learn to PVP. This may be true if you are a lone solo player just starting the game and go off hunting on your own. However, if you can find a corp full of veteran pvpers that are willing to teach you the ropes, you will be much better off. You should not have to lose many ships, but should get plenty of kills. If you have fun losing ships, have at it. We prefer to do the killing.
Your fleet has to be n+1 the enemy fleet to win. A good FC that knows their fleet comp can dunk larger fleets. It takes knowledge of the ship capabilities in the engagement, use of force multipliers, and a strategy.
Bigger ships are better. After the Battle of B-R5RB many players joined Eve with dreams of flying Titans and Battleships in large engagements. What many vets already know is that flying the smaller ships in Eve can be a lot more fun. We routinely destroy Battleships in our small frigate gangs, and have a lot of fun doing it.
Ships are expensive so you need to be rich or join a corp with a ship replacement program. Another advantage of frigates is that they are inexpensive and easily replaced. You can spend your time in game grinding isk to pay for large ships, or you can spend your game time pvping in inexpensive ships. No ship replacement program needed. You can enjoy Eve pvp for many years on a budget in frigates.
You need millions of skill points to pvp. Eve Online is not WOW. You can enjoy the null-sec end game right now. Our corp has a fleet doctrine like any other corp. Would you believe it only takes 7 hours of training to fit into one of our basic fleet doctrine ships. Set your skill queue, go to sleep, wake up, and you can PvP in null-sec. If any of these myth resonate with you, join OUCH now. Open University of Celestial Hardship (OUCH) is a training corporation for new and experienced pilots. We have very experienced trainers to teach you how to survive and fight in null-sec. We have no 'cause' other than to teach you null-sec survival and PvP.
OUCH Community Spotlight Our motto: Kill more, Die less.
What does that mean for you? We don't guarantee your survival in null-sec, but we do guarantee to teach you how to minimize your losses.
It's brutal out there, but when you're a member of OUCH, you're with a group of friendly, relaxed people who understand your fears. We're there to help you learn how to survive in null-space. We will teach you everything you need to know.
What kind of training will you get? Student training focuses on a number of essential skills in a detailed yet practical manner:
Overview settings EVE client settings and interface Bookmarking Using the Directional Scanner Tackling Weaponry Fleet Ops Hunter/Prey
Once you graduate from OUCH you can apply to become a permanent member, or you're free to move on. If your application to become permanent is accepted, you will be transferred into our Operations department and have the opportunity to move into more advanced hulls and roles and receive advanced PVP training, including, for example, Interceptors, EWAR, Recons, Covert Ops, and support ships.
Student Training Schedule Our training sessions are usually held every week on Saturdays and Sundays at 19:00 EVE time, Wednesdays and Thursdays at 18:00, and various additional time and day offerings depending on demand. We promote these sessions with our forum, EVE mails and in-game calendar.
Are there any minimum requirements to join OUCH? No prerequisites are required to join OUCH. No minimum number of skill points, API checks, interviews, etc. We truly are an "open" training corporation. Our students have ranged from one day old trial accounts to players who were with Eve since Beta.
However, to make your OUCH experience meaningful, you must be willing to have or accept the following:
A desire to learn how to survive in null-sec and develop your PvP skills. You must do your homework and abide by our corporate policies and restrictions. After joining OUCH you'll find that in addition to attending Module training sessions, there's quite a bit of forum information you'll have to read and digest. You will not, and should not, be fighting from day one. Like when you learn boxing, it's the gym first and arena second.
When a student graduates and would like to become a permanent member of OUCH, he or she must apply to the Operations Department. You do not become a permanent member by simply graduating.
Be active on Teamspeak (for voice communications) when you're logged on.
Sign up to our forum and keep up to date with information and discussions.
OUCH is a null-sec survival and PvP training corp. You're expected to practice what you've learned, and if you're not practicing, then we hope that's because you've learned it so well you're teaching someone instead. Using Teamspeak will allow you to chat with other corp and alliance members, and participate in more training and PvP operations.

You can apply in game. Our main high sec office is located in Berta. Then go to our website to get access to our student forums and create your student folder. Since you are a returning player, make sure you are in high sec when you apply to join the corp. |

It could be a good break from what you are doing now. Also, most of the skills are general use. The classes will help you stay alive.
